OEM Fit 211 320 9313 Universial coilover suspension Air Shock Absorber Front Left Side For Mercedes-Benz 211/219 two-wheel drive.
How It works
1. Air Instead of Springs: Instead of using metal coil springs like regular suspension, air suspension uses strong, flexible rubber air bags (often called air springs or bellows).
2. Filling with Air: An air compressor pumps air into these air bags.
3. Supporting the Vehicle:The pressurized air inside the bags supports the weight of the vehicle.
4. Absorbing Bumps: When you hit a bump, the air inside the bag compresses. This compression absorbs the shock and allows the wheel to move upwards smoothly.
5. Rebounding: After the bump, the compressed air expands again, pushing the wheel back down to its normal position and keeping the vehicle level.
Benefits
1. Smoother Ride: Air suspension generally provides a more comfortable and smoother ride compared to regular springs, especially over bumps and rough roads. It absorbs shocks better.
2. Adjustable Height: You can easily raise or lower the vehicle height:
Raise it for better ground clearance on rough terrain or when heavily loaded.
Lower it for easier entry/exit, better aerodynamics (saving fuel), or a sportier look when parked.
3. Levels Under Load: Even when carrying heavy loads or towing, air suspension can automatically (or manually) add air to keep the vehicle
level and stable, maintaining good handling and headlight aim. Regular springs can sag under heavy weight.
In short: Air suspension uses pressurized air bags instead of metal springs to support the vehicle and absorb bumps, offering a smoother ride and the ability to adjust the vehicle's height.
